Dr. Will Pierce

A Conservative Voice for Central & Southern Utah!

Candidate for Utah School Board – District 14

Every student.
Every pathway.
Every family's voice.

Utah’s students deserve an education system that respects families, rewards hard work, and opens doors whether that leads to a university, a trade, or a business of their own. I’m running to bring conservative values, parental choice, and real-world readiness to District 14.

Why I'm Running

I am running because I believe our education system needs more common sense and less bureaucracy.  We must focus on students, not systems.  As a Marine, a Master Electrician, and a Ph.D. in leadership, I’ve seen firsthand that there is no "one-size-fits-all" path to success. We must expand pathways to success for EVERY child - to the future they and their parents envision.

My History

After high school, I served 8 years in the U.S. Marine Corp, then completed a 4-year electrician apprenticeship before I began college. I eventually completed a Bachelors of Science in Workforce Education, a Masters in Education Leadership and finally a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.

I served 5 years as V.P. at Davis Technical College and Southwest Technical College, where I was passionate about helping students succeed in their unique paths.  I now teach Jr. High at an academically rigorous classical charter school.  I’ve seen education from many different perspectives and have personally experienced both technical education and university at the highest level.  I believe the Utah State Board of Education needs someone with technical education expertise and experience.  My life’s experience uniquely qualifies me to fill that need!

A Commitment to Conservative Values

Local Control

Decisions affecting our children belong with families and communities, not political activists or federal mandates.

Fiscal Accountability

As a former business owner, I know the value of a dollar. I will ensure your tax dollars are spent in the classroom, not on ideological overreach or administrative bloat.

Parental Authority

I will always fight for the fundamental right of parents to choose the best school and the best pathway for their children.

Expanding Pathways to Success Through Technical Education

Diverse Pathways: We must stop the “college-only” narrative. Not every student’s path to success looks the same.  Southern Utah’s economy thrives on skilled trades and technical innovation and our K-12 education system must reflect that reality by valuing hands-on learning and real-world skills alongside academic achievement. I am deeply passionate about strengthening and elevating technical and career education as a respected, rigorous, and viable alternative to the traditional college-only narrative.

Strong Support for Parental Choice in Education

Parents know their children best, and know what is best for them with regard to their education.  Public education systems often push students to the pathway easiest for the system – but not necessarily best for the child.   I firmly support a parent’s right to choose the school and the educational path for their child – families should have the freedom to select the educational environment that best meets their child’s needs. Charter schools, private schools, tech schools, and other innovative models play a critical role in improving outcomes for our students, encouraging innovation, and ensuring that no student is trapped in a system that does not serve them well.

Serving Students, Families, and Utah’s Future

My goal is to help build an education system that prepares students for productive citizenship, meaningful work, and lifelong learning skills and habits without ideological overreach or bureaucratic excess. By supporting diverse educational pathways, parental empowerment, and a clear focus on student success, we can strengthen both our schools and our communities.
